She-Ca-Gow here I Come!

I was supposed to fly out tomorrow to Birmingham so I could go with Mom & Dad to the condo in Florida, but thanks to good ole Gustav (the Hurricane) that won't be happening. Luckily I can hold the ticket for Christmas or February when Baby Hump arrives. So Bruce and I decided to go to Chicago. I only live 2 hours away and we had planned to go for our anniversary but had to go back home for the funeral. I am so excited because there is so much to see and do there...not to mention the infamous "Houndstooth " bar that a guy from bama owns...I am sure we will be stopping by to watch the game Saturday night! There are also some museums there I know we will visit along with some great shopping (Niemen Marcus, Crate & Barrell..etc) so I am super excited and the girls at work and I are already planning a shopping trip in the next month or so!! Fun Fun!!

Watch out Chef Bruce!

Today I signed up for something I thought I would never do..I'm going to take a cooking class! I know, Mom, don't pass out, hahaha...but Kay asked me to go to this class..the instructor is from a popular magazine called "Taste of Home" and they offer several recipes and tips. The class in only one night..so that was appealing too..I always joke that my cooking compared to Bruce's is "like comparing Burger King and Olive Garden"...but he never makes fun of what I make...and always cleans his plate..still I would like to get a little more creative in the kitchen. I have never been the domestic type but now that I'm an older I like baking and such. It should be fun!

Baby Humphrey

Sounds like Aunt Lindsey was right all along...Dr. Snowden thinks it's a girl! The ultrasound isn't until Sept. 22...so we will have to wait for confirmation lol....got me thinking about another little sweet girl I know...this is Blakely, my friend Hayley's little girl, and here is a shot I took at her baby shower. It's hard to believe that was almost a year ago! She was the first friend of mine to have a baby and we also worked together, so I got to see her baby from a little hump to a watermelon lol. She had a really good pregnancy and I hope Nat does too!

Run for Research!

Today was the big run! I had to wake up at 4 a.m., which was not too fun, but we had to be at the hospital by 6 to help set up. Goshen is about 45 minutes away from here. They have a wing dedicated to cancer care, where they do research as well as chemo and for the past 3 years, Goshen General has been voted the best place to work in Indiana! That is amazing for a hospital! It was a beautiful location..the cancer center even had a baby grand piano in the lobby! We all help set up tables, marked the trails and had snacks for the runners. We had a 5k, 10k, and walking trail with pets. Peggy, our coworker, and her daughter Morgan came out and walked, and Peggy even won a blanket! Every participant received a goodie bag. There were over 100 people registered on Friday night! Shelly , Kay's daughter, was the coordinator and did a terrific job! I have never done any charity work, but this hospital is doing so much for the fight against cancer and I had to be a part of it. On the back of our t-shirts, it has a blank that says "in honor of". Mine is for my Aunt Wanda and Aunt Jane, who passed away from lung cancer last year. There were about 10 people with bright green t-shirts that read "cancer took a hike when it went up against mike". They were all family members, from kids to grandparents, all part of Mike's family, including Mike, who all ran because he was a cancer survivor. This disease affects everyone and I hope to see a cure in my lifetime!

Charity Events and Baseball..

Saturday I am going to be a volunteer at a local charity event. It is for the Goshen Cancer Center, a local hospital that specializes in cancer treatment. People can walk a mile with their pet or run a 5K. I'm excited to help out with this charity. Kay's daughter Shelly is a RN at the center and asked me to help with the big day. It should be fun!

Last night we went to see the local minor-league baseball team. The South Bend Silverhawks were great! Monday night is dollar night, so there was a big crowd. We had a great time and we will definitely go back to see them play. And a dollar is not bad for a 3 hour game!

Happy 40th Anniversary!

Kay and her husband Ron celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary today! Kay- and I work together in the stress lab. Here is one of her wedding day pictures. How cute! I offered to come out to the farm and take a picture of them on their special day. Forty years...isn't that great! They are such a sweet couple!

Here's another shot...

Well since I love pictures, I decided that it would be a Walsh Family Tradition to have our picture made every year around our anniversary. I had went shopping about a month ago at the University Mall and there is a chain studio called "The Picture People". I was impressed with their products and after lots of begging to Bruce ( he doesn't like to have his picture made), I drug him to there today. I thought it would be cute to wear our favorite college t-shirts and bring our footballs too. On the back side of mine, it is autographed by Kenny Stabler, while Bruce's has 2007's schedule (they were on sale for some reason!) We had so much fun during the shoot and I thought they turned out great.

Bridesmaid, Bride , and now a Planner!

Yeah thats right....after being a bridesmaid several times...then a bride last year...I have been asked to help plan a co-worker's wedding!! Even though I am new to the area, me and another coworker, Amanda, are in charge as the official wedding planners.! What a hoot...our first adventure is Saturday. We are visiting at least 4 reception halls, including the upper deck of the local minor league baseball field! It's called Coveleski Stadium, home of the South Bend Silverhawks, and banquet room there holds around 300. I am super excited to be a part of all this..and of course I was asked to take pictures of all the places for reference. I really like one of the traditions up here for wedding receptions. Rumor has it that the majority of weddings have a "Polish style" buffet..which consists of baked chicken, polish sausage, mashed potatoes, and other sides...and this is usually the cheapest route as far as the food is concerned. I think this should trickle down to the South!
